According to Wikepedia cronyism is in part " the practice of partiality in awarding jobs and other advantages to friends, family or trusted colleagues, especially in politics and between politicians and supportive organizations."
Is Loveland joining the long list of other communities engaging in the practice of cronyism? Is the council majority - Mayor Kathy Bailey, Vice-Mayor Rob Weisgerber, Ted Phelps, Tim Butler, Neil Oury and Kent Blair making decisions for the benefit of their political supporters and friends?
Listen to our newest podcast - Shining the Light on Cronyism. This discussion is Part 1 of a two part series. In the first installment, Eye on Loveland discusses cronyism that we can see, what we refer to as surface cronyism. Committee appointments, special events, open container districts and development financing.
The second installment - Part 2 - will address the issue of cronyism that is deeper, below the surface sometimes things we don’t see immediately without digging a little deeper. Cronyism that can have far reaching consequences. Teaser alert - why is the Vice Mayor’s home in the proposed historic boundaries? Stay tuned for the podcast, it will be coming early next week.
